Cumberland River search continues for Hermitage resident

Information from Metro Police press release, via email from Charlotte Park Neighborhood Association:West Precinct detectives, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency are working to locate Nashvillian Richard Eric Reece, who may have fallen from a boat into a channel of the Cumberland River late last night. Reece, 44, of Hermitage, was one of 15 persons drinking and partying on the 40-foot Sea Ray boat as it traveled from Riverfront Park downtown to West Nashville&;s Rock Harbor Marina. The owner of the boat said as he cleared the river into the channel leading to Rock Harbor, he asked Reece to step to a lower deck so that he (the owner) could concentrate on docking the vessel. The boat docked at around 10 p.m. Reece&;s son, who was one of the passengers, presumed his father left the boat at the dock. By 4:10 a.m., Reece could not be located, police were called, and a missing person report was taken. Surveillance footage from the marina showed the passengers getting off. Reece was not among them.A police helicopter checked the river and its banks. An OEM boat equipped with sonar checked the channel leading to Rock Harbor. No signs of Reece have been detected. It is possible Reece fell into the water while making his way to the lower deck. The search is continuing.

Rhino Booksellers on Charlotte was robbed again last night. Thieves took the cash drawer and kicked in a door. This is our third robbery since opening in Sylvan Park. The criminal element is drawn to the area by abandoned buildings and business that purchase stolen items. We have also heard that Park Ave. Baptist was a crime victim yet again. How can we work together to stop this kind of activity.Fred KollerRhino Booksellers279-0310
