World Market, other Nashville West stores open
Home entertaining and gifts retailer World Market opened last week in the Nashville West shopping center on Charlotte Pike, and today the store was buzzing with activity surrounding a Mix 92.9 radio promotion and Carol Fay, Loveless Cafe's "Biscuit Lady," who was signing copies of the book "Southern Country Cooking from The Loveless Cafe."
Oakland, Calif.-based World Market operates two other Middle Tennessee stores in Hendersonville and Murfreesboro. The store sells a wide range of products including indoor and outdoor furniture, packaged gourmet food, "beers of the world," coffee and tea, housewares, home decor, jewelry and picture frames.
World Market joins Red Robin burgers as the most recently opened stores at Nashville West.
To help readers keep up with store openings at Nashville West, the following list of stores and their status is based on a Saturday drive through the retail center, combined with information about planned stores on the site plan of developer Newton Oldacre McDonald. Stop me if I dreamed this, but I'm pretty sure I saw one of the empty stores with a LensCrafters "coming soon" sort of sign on it this past weekend. (Walking from B-A-M toward Target, it was somewhere along there, definitely before you reach Cacique's/Lane Bryant.)
Does anyone know what's going in at the front? This is the entry point in front of Target.
claires is open
YEEEEEEEEEEEHAW Y'ALL!! This will finally give all the Hillwood rednecks a chance to experience sprawling BIG-BOX shopping... an option they've never had in their community except for a Wal-Mart. It also comes at a good time since most people in that hood can't afford the "new" Green Hills Mall. How long do you think it'll be before this place becomes another blighted strip mall in the dying West Nashville landscape?
To Anonymous said (Oct 23) posting...I suggest you get off your high horse and shop in Green Hills if you can, it will save us one parking spot at Nashville West, unless you walk or take the bus to this very well laid out shopping area. Let's not forget in this stuggling economy that Nashville West is bringing jobs to this community...the workers that are building the site and the stores that for the long haul, are employing local people, not to mention the contributions to the local school system through Target. Where ever you shop, and we all know you do, how do you think the people that live near your favorite shopping area feel about having such a negative person in their area in where they live? Think about...your community is what you make of it. Would you rather of had strip joints instead of a strip mall?
