New legal guide for anyone who publishes online
A guide to journalism skills and principles and a warning that publishing online content anonymously does not necessarily protect individuals from lawsuits are just a couple of the informational items included in a new legal guide for online content producers. The Citizen Media Law Project has created a legal guide to address "the legal issues you may encounter as you gather information and publish your work" online. The guide includes disclaimers that it is still a work in progress and it is not a substitute for legal advice from a lawyer.State-specific information is available for several states, with more to be added this year. Tennessee does not yet have a state section in the guide.
