Tonight: March against gun violence

Following five fatal shootings in West Nashville during the past two weeks, a march against gun violence will begin tonight at 6:30 p.m. on Charlotte Avenue.

Activists with local anti-violence organization Partners in the Struggle Inc. will meet at Spudz restaurant at 5908 Charlotte Ave., where Spudz owner Eric Brown was shot to death on Oct. 24, and walk on Charlotte Avenue to National Car Wash at 40th Avenue, where two men were shot to death Saturday afternoon, according to WKRN Channel 2.

On Oct. 26, nearby on White Bridge Road, two gunmen shot and killed Bellacino's pizzeria employees Chris Caris and Joshua Cole. According to the Tennessean, a hearing for two men accused of the killings is scheduled for Nov. 30.

NewsChannel 5 on Monday interviewed Police Chief Ronal Serpas, who said in most cases, murder victims in this city are not picked at random. Serpas said the community needs to know that in almost every murder investigation, the victim was killed by an acquaintance.
