Bellevue updates: Cabela's rumors called "fluff"
A Bowling Green, Ky., businessman who has been working to lure a Cabela's outdoor megastore to his 861-acre complex along Interstate 65 in Franklin, Ky., called recent rumors "flim-flam" for suggesting Cabela's might open a store in the struggling Bellevue Center mall. Bowling Green Daily News reported Friday that David Garvin, founder of Bowling Green-based Camping World, a supplier of RV accessories and camping equipment with more than 50 retail locations, said the Bellevue rumors were "fluff" perpetuated by a developer and a politician. Read more about Garvin's efforts to court Cabela's leadership in the Daily News story here.Separately, Fox 17 News in Nashville reported Sunday that Metro Councilmembers Charlie Tygard and Eric Crafton are "putting their foot down, with a timeline" on the struggling Bellevue mall. Tygard told Fox 17 a resolution would be considered Tuesday to create an economic development zone to help "underperforming malls," specifically Bellevue and Hickory Hollow malls.Read previous posts about Bellevue mall here and here.

Neighbors, please join our group
Four members and growing: This week The Charlotte Parker group enjoyed a membership increase of 100%. Welcome to our two new members. Seriously, thank you and welcome. If you live in or near Charlotte Park, please click here to sign up.Admittedly, the group is pretty inactive now. I haven't yet "marketed" it beyond this site, and its usefulness depends on neighbors joining and using the group. The purpose of it is to help connect us as neighbors, so we can communicate important information, from handyman recommendations and garage sale promotions to crime alerts and meaningful discussions about issues facing Charlotte Park. The potential uses of the group are limitless, and I hope it grows into an active, beneficial tool for us neighbors.

Huge outdoor store eyes Bellevue

According to Cabela's website, the company operates 19 retail stores, with 12 planned stores opening soon, and a catalog business.Meanwhile, the struggling mall, which soon may be sold, will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming May 7 community meeting, according to this article. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 7, at 6 p.m. at the Bellevue Middle School auditorium.
